Sweet Serendipity

It’s been said that everything happens for a reason and I’ve always believed this to be truth. As difficult as it’s been and as much loss as I’ve experienced, and shit that I’ve seen, I still believe this. It’s difficult to accept sometimes; as what happens in our lives, isn’t always what we want to happen. Most times, it’s the polar opposite. When things happen that hurt us or that force unwanted change, we often doubt that there’s a reason for it. We often try to hold on to what we’re losing, and hurt ourselves more, in the process. We often don’t see all of the stars that aligned before the thing, itself actually happened. We often don’t see the good things surrounding us while it’s happening or the good it is usually leading us to.

But some of us can; some of us can see the universe at work while it’s happening. And sometimes, as excruciating as that can be, it’s actually a good thing in the long run. I believe it is how we find those with whom, we are meant to go through these things. That, together is where we find our strength to move forward.

I believe people are put in one another’s paths for a reason too; the precise person you need, at the precise time, for the precise reason you need them. People, without whom you wouldn’t make it through the difficult thing you’re going through. People who, bring to the table the exact skills, traits, abilities, or things that you need to help you get through whatever you’re going through at the time.

Ever look back at some of these things? Ever see that, just when you needed that thing you were missing, or to hear the words that needed to be spoken to you, or needed someone’s strength that you didn’t have, yourself; that’s when they appeared. Someone appeared to give you that thing, speak those words or share their strength with you. Someone who might have been there all along, who you did or didn’t even know had the things you needed. Someone or something, put in your path on purpose; to be there in that time of need.

And, someone or something put in their path, just as they needed something that they were missing, that could help them, or you. Or that could help them, help you more effectively; to cook a meal they couldn’t cook, or speak a language they couldn’t speak, or do something for them, that would help you or help you, help them. Or, to give them something they didn’t have but needed, to help you. Where they all came together and shared their gifts; without even knowing how or thinking about why, because they all had the precise gifts, at the precise moment, someone else needed them.

Ever look back at how you were put in someone else’s path in this way? At the very moment they needed you? You had a Kleenex when someone was crying, or a jack when someone needed a tire changed. You had the skills needed to help them; fix their car, or solve a problem. You had the tangible thing they needed, or the ability to help, otherwise. You had the time to use this skill, and showed up just as they needed it; needed you. At the very moment, they were in need of whatever it was you brought to the table. I don’t believe these are accidents.

This is, divine intervention. It’s the universe at work, working it’s magic to bring people together in the way they are meant to be together, in the time they’re meant to be together. For the reasons, they are meant to be together. It’s the universe intervening and helping both us, and them, make the change and transitions that much easier. It’s the universe using us to lighten each other’s loads. It’s the universe putting the people who are meant to be together, in each other’s paths.

Things like these have always happened to me. I’ve always noticed these things, and I’ve never believed them to be accidents. I’ve always felt that things would happen as they were meant to happen, if I kept doing what I was doing and moving forward. When these things happened in my life, they gave me hope or renewed hope; that things would work out as they were meant to, in the time they are meant to. That life would bring me who and what I needed, precisely as I needed them and, for whatever reason they are meant to be a part of my life and journey. Every time these things happened, it only served as a reminder and a confirmation that this was so.

The past few months have been like this for me; and for the people in my life. We’ve all been called upon to be there for one another in various capacities, and for a variety of reasons. We’ve all risen to the occasion and have managed to lighten each other’s load, as we were meant. And, we’ve all had precisely what the other needed; or had access to the resources they needed somehow. Whether that meant, calling on another friend that we knew had these skills, abilities or resources; or reaching out in other ways. I believe that people are put in our paths for a reason. Each one, carrying a piece of the puzzle that solves the problem, or answers the question. And, that when these people come together, they complete the big picture, within the puzzle that is sweet serendipity.
